Vehicle Inspection

The vehicle will be inspected at different Taxi Ranks for fitness and road worthiness to ensure that passengers are not put at risk. The condition of critical parts will be checked to ensure that they are in a good condition to travel the distance and this will include tyres, brakes and shock absorbers etc.

Driver Condition Monitoring

The condition of the driver will also be checked to ensure that he is in the best condition to safely take on the journey with passengers. One of the major causes of accidents, in general, is drunk driving. The Rank marshals will ensure that the condition of the driver is checked before the such driver is allowed to take on the journey. Passengers are more than welcomed to monitor to phone our call center number to report any challenges.

Reg of Driver and Commuter

The practice to register the details of passengers before undertaking a trip on long distance routes has usually been done for notification of next of kin in cases of an accident.  But now in addition to this, the purpose will be to enable us en route interaction and feedback from with commuters of our taxi service and driver conduct including acknowledgement to drivers who are doing their best job to give passengers top quality service.

The Hlokomela Campaign provides assistance and a substitute driver is dispatched to ensure passengers are always ferried safely to their destinations. A strong link will be sustained with law enforcement to ensure that passengers do not interfere, abuse or become unruly while drivers while are performing
their duties.

Engagement with Traffic Officials

SANTACO believes that our open engagement with Traffic Officials in conducting road blocks at various check points will send a message to our taxi drivers and operators about the Taxi Industry’s commitment to lead its own Road Safety initiative and contribution towards the reduction of road accidents.
