The 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup will be held in South Africa from 14 June 2009 to 28 June 2009 while the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be held in South Africa from 11 June 2010 to 11 July 2010. In order to ensure that appropriate levels of public passenger transport will be provided for these events, the National Department of Transport (DoT) developed a Transport Action Plan for 2010 during 2006. In this document, the DoT stated its vision for the success of the WC2010 event as follows:
